Felicitas Butt: Es ist kein Klopapier mehr da
16/07, 2025

About
Felicitas Butt’s mixed media installation Es ist kein Klopapier mehr da (There’s no toilet paper left anymore), 2025, Toilet paper holder, toilet paper re-attached, plant prints with linocut ink, woodboard with tiles.
The piece is a playful yet deeply serious reflection on collective scarcity, societal panic, and the absurdity of everyday life. The iconic emptiness of the toilet paper roll becomes a metaphor for a larger sense of lost control – a theme that affects all of us in one way or another.
It didn’t collect the plants.
It didn’t feel the doubt.
It didn’t tear the paper.
What is an imprint worth when everything can be reproduced?
What do we hold on to – and what simply dissolves?
