guerilla gilded

About
A crudely gilded patch on the rear face of the Kabinett comprises several dozen sheets of imitation gold leaf.
Generally used to elevate and adorn furniture, picture frames, or classic paintings, gold leaf is an unexpected, non-traditional street art material.
The cluster of sheets looks to have been applied in a hurry, as street art often is. Contrary to the careful and often painstaking technique of conventional gilding, which is executed to create a cohesive golden surface, the sheets remain detached from one another and distinct, readily revealing the method of production.
