Local illustrator Meroë transforms the Kabinett into a non-representational map of Camberwell that explores existing structures, streets, landmarks, demographics, as well as significant local figures from both past and present.

The exterior of the Kabinett will act as the main canvas for the map, but will lead inside to reveal additional elements exploring the herstory of Camberwell. Special take-home brochures will allow visitors to identify the structures and public figures that continue to make the locality a vibrant and integral part of inner-city London.

The exhibition is staged in collaboration with the annual Camberwell Arts Festival, which delivers an eclectic mix of open studios, arts markets, exhibitions, workshops and commissions designed to inspire, entertain and engage audiences. This year marks the 30th anniversary of the festival.

In conjunction with the exhibition, Meroë has published a zine that will be distributed in the Kabinett’s library. The zine is also available for download below.
